93 mustang gt when checking the timing the mark is 180 out but the car runs good?

is it posible to be 180 out and still run good if not why is my timing mark so far off?

if it is 180 out you are connected to the wrong plug wire. It cannot run 180 out. its possible the distributor is 180 out. but that really would not be a problem other than plug wires are in different position that normal.

................when I did my timing belt there was only one way to re-install the pully....................... I was just talking with my dad to help verify stuff, and here are a couple thoughts. If it's running good the timing mark is not 180 degrees off. If the pully was installed 180 degrees from where it should be the timing mark would only be 90 degrees off. (Crankshaft goes around twice for every revolution of the camshaft.) Was the pully taken off another car, maybe a different year so that the marks could be different? Or, are you sure you are taking the reading off the #1 cylinder?

If the distributor has been removed it is possible to reset it with the timing mark 180 out.The best way to check that everyuthing is where it is supposed to be is to pull the #1 cyllinder and bring the piston to the top.Insure the rotor button is at the #1 plug wire and then check your timing mark on the harmonic balancer.
