I know its sci-fi but its also an awesome action flick:

The best most recent action movie is 300. The whole movie is a fight scene. From the first frames the story unfolds about how the Spartans were training killing machine from every little boy. The cinematography is amazing. The camera angles are unreal except they are so realistic!! You can see the scenes unfold in slow motion and feel the action and react to it as if you are five feet away and the blood just fell on you sleeve. GREAT ACTION FILM!

The original Die Hard.
Bruce Willis in his break-out action role, Alan Rickman as the super-stylish bad-guy... heck, EVERYONE in that cast is perfect. Plus the script is tight, the direction is imaginative, and the effects are great without being overdone. It's definitely my perfect action movie.
