The most famous St Anthony is St Antoine de Padoue. He was born in 1195 in Lisbon. In 1220 he joined the order of Franciscans and got a new name Anthony. He was a very good orator and teached theology in France and Italy. He founded a monastery in Brive in France. He died in 1231 in Padoue. He was canonize by Gregory IX in 1232. He is the national saint of the Portugal and the patron saint of sailors. He is invoke for finding lost objects because a legend said that a thief return what he stole to him.
