i think that success may lead to happiness because you have fulfilled a personal goal. on the otherhand, happiness can lead to success because you have positive emotions. happiness cannot be defined by how successful you are (money-wise)

It really depends on your definition of both words. Both can lead to the other. If you believe true success in being happy, then happiness leads to success. If you believe a certain form of success will make you happy, then success leads to happiness. Questions like these are really based on relevancy and one's own definition.

The relationship between the two are independent, but there is a correlation nonetheless. The answer before me have some merit. You could be the most successful person, but also the most miserable. Similarly, if you are a happy go lucky person who looks at the world through rose petal glass, that does not necessarily mean in reality that you are successful.

Imagine a garbage collector, he can be happy, but not entirely successful.

Yes, success does lead to happiness if it is the right success for you.

So many people chase success that is wrong for them. They are for-fulling the dreams of their parents or just society in general. IE becoming a doctor because that is what mum wanted when al I wanted to be was an actor.

Another trap is fighting your way to the top and earning 100k per year, when actually wanted to own a self sufficient small holding.

So happiness is achieving what YOU want to achieve, that which matches your beliefs, values and needs.

Failure is to live up to another's expectations.

Success is a relative term. you can be the most successful person on the planet but on the other hand you might be very sad and also you can be a homeless person but happy inside. but in my opinion happiness leads to success because if you are happy you are a more optimistic person and it will motivate you toward success.

Success is achieving what you want. But what you want may not be what makes you happy. Success does not lead to happiness.

Never heard of "Happiness leading to Success".

Success on what?
You can have a big success in your profession but be the worst father or husband. In the other hand you can be almost broke but be completely happy in your family life.

Success can only lead to happiness when YOU see yourself successful. Happiness can only lead to success when your goal is to be happy.

it depends on the kind of success. fufillment usually leads to happiness, but that isn't usually the bussiness type of fuffillment. money can't quite put a smile on your face unless of corse you botox it, but somehow that isn't quite genuine. some people find happiness/fufillment in religion, helping friends, charity, there is a whole manor of things. although i will be honest, chocolate makes my happy. and so does a good book. (:
