First it is based on religion, which should not be allowed in public schools. Religion should not be forced upon students because of a little thing called seperation of church and state. Also it is not based on facts or science.. which evolution is. If people want their kids to learn about creationism they should send their kids to private schools or teach it to them at home.

i am with you and evolution is only taught as a theory, not as the only thing. at least that is true where i teach. and i agree with what you said. if people don't like that, they should teach religious ideas at home, or in church, not in school.

ps, thanks for the best answer :)

It is not a matter of teaching creationism as much as it is teaching a theory of evolution that presumes to know the answer to the VERY BEGINNING of life. Scientists have become caught in the middle of a debate that still does not have an conclusion. While they have made great strides in understanding how life has evolved there are still a great many dots to be connected. One must be very careful with the impressionable minds of our children. School is not a labratory dish to experiment with some very complex topics. There are simply too many instances where scientists have presented "facts" only to contradict them years later. I do not believe that creationism should be taught in public school but I also believe that science assumptions that date back millions of years should be approached with extreme caution when being taught to a child. And a child should not be penalized for not "buying" any one approach unless it has been well established through proof.

Tell me why so call evolutionist freak when you mention evolution is a theroy.
Or if a school district ask for kids to bring in their questions about evolution was ban and protested as teaching creationism or when in GA they said evolution is theory and should be critical review was pull because they said it was teaching creationism.

Good point with one disagreement. The theory of evolution in itself is the religion of atheist. Why are they allowed to teach the myth of man evolving from monkeys. Scientists themselves agree that the evidence of such is virtually nonexistent.

I don't want the world (as in public school system) teaching religion as it should be taught in the home and in the tax free places of worship. I also don't appreciate the world convincing children that humans evolved from apes. This is simply, another belief. The Big Bang theory is yet another version of someones belief.

If theories of origins are going to be taught, then it would only be fair to teach the "theory" of God as well. I say, teach them all OR don't teach any.

Evolution is a theory. Even Darwin called it that. The discussions I have seen is to teach both so a student may have a choice as to what they want to believe.

Because there are people whose religion foundation is dependent on the supression of scientific advance. It is not that science seeks to destroy their religion. They are the ones who make the claim that IF certain scientific facts are true, then their religion crumbles.
