All that magma (heated rock) from the core would cover everything and boil the oceans and the atmosphere away. So we would be a hot, dead cinder.

You are describing a phenomenon known as a "Super Volcanoe or Super Crater". This phenomenon happens every 700,000 years. The Crater is located, da da daaaa, in yellowstone national park. It is the largest volcanoe known except for the moon in jupiters orbit that erupts the core of it every 3 year.

Back to supervolcanoe. If the supervolcanoe erupted, it would spew debris in the air and blanket the earth in particles so small we could not see. These particles are put into the air and has an affect called Marie's disease. If inhaled and put into the bloodstream, these particles onset the disease which makes the bones sporatically grow inproportionaltely over a period of 30 days and then it is a painful death.

The area of Kansas to yellowstone and in a parobolic arc back would be completely covered in 8' of ash. This would be deadly not only for inhalation but would crush you. The area within 200 miles of yellowstone would be immediately devastated.

It's nearly impossible for that to happen through only one volcano, because the tectonic plates of the earth's lithosphere more or less isolate the upward motion of molten material to a central point: a volcano . Also, the magma flowing beneath the plates tends to distribute itself more or less evenly .

Recall that the magma, which is lava(molten rock)the volcano spews out comes from a source at the central core inside of our planet. The core of the planet is molten nickle and iron. With that sort of heat: Use your imagination. And think "toast".
