If you feel significantly less movement, call your OB and ask for a nonstress test. They will be happy to do this for you and it will make sure the baby is okay. They would rather be safe than sorry. Good luck. Your baby will be here soon, I know the waiting is the hardest part!! PS get some sleep now while you still can!! :)

I am 39 weeks myself 2 cm and 80% effaced, and my son is moving around as much as ever. My doctor says some babies settle down in the week or so before delivery and others dont. I would recommend doing a Kick Count after your next meal and make sure that you still get 10 distinct movements within 2 hours. If you don't I would contact your doctor just to make sure your amniotic fluid levels are normal and your baby is not in any distress. Congrats and Good luck!

If the baby isn't moving do a kick count. He/She should be moving about 10 times in 2hrs. I'm 38 weeks and the movement has slowed down a bit cause he is big, but it shouldn't be so dramatic. If the baby isn't moving at least 10 times in 2hrs call the doctor. Or you could have a small meal, and a sweet drink and see how long it takes for the baby to make 10 movements, then let the dr know. Good Luck and Congrats!!!

well i was having this problem when i was 37 weeks pregnant.. I am now 39 weeks.. people always say that "oh its okay they arent suppose to move as much towards the end of the pregnancy" But if you are like me and dont alwats listen to what people sayyyy i researched on baby websites.. They all say that YES the baby doesnt have as much room anymore in there BUT that does not mean that his movements will decrease, they will just become more powerful and hard and sharp!! So if i was you, i would call Labor n delivery! your baby could be stressed.. Dont listen to these people on here!! Good luck!

I have a 2 1/2 yr old little boy and am 33 weeks prego myself... I remember with my little boy that he did get to where he didn't move around as much toward the end - make sure you let your doctor know about this though also b/c it could be something else - they ended up taking my first 2 1/2 weeks early when i complained about him not moving as much because when they did a sono they saw that he wasn't growing. Let your doctor know and good luck!!!!!

Our son (who is now 2 1/2 mos old) was fairly quiet for the last 3 or so days before he was born. But, I don't think this applies to you because he was 7 weeks early and breach.
If you think it's cause for concern, call the hospital and page whoever is on call for your doctor and ask them what to do. Before that, though, you could also press on your stomach a bit to see if it causes movement. This way you can relax and know that your baby is fine.

My son is 16 months old. He too got quiet toward the end of my pregnancy. Think of it this way. You've only got so much room in there. When they run out of room to romp they just wiggle a little. I was three centimeters dilated for over two weeks. They were planning on enducing me on Thursday and he was born a week late, the Sunday before the planned inducing.

Yes that is what happened to me I was due 5th of April I remember clearly that around the 28th my babi was going crazy kickin up a storm and hurting me like I never hurted before...then suddenly the 30th and 31st....silence...nothing....little kick then nothing barely moved and I could feel my belly tense I was hysterical and scared...but it did not lasted long...She was born the next day April 1st....
But you know if you get concern It would never hurt to go to the maternity (ER) and express your concerns when we are pregnant is cool to be hysterical actually is Legal...
Good luck and best wishes on your labor
God Bless!

It is less preparing for birth and more the size of the baby. When baby is in the last days in the womb, they are really too big to move around a lot. As long as you are feeling the baby move, even if it is less than you are used to, you *should* be ok. I say should because I am assuming that to date, your pregnancy has been uncomplicated. If you feel it has been too long without movement, please call your OB doc, and let them assess.

not much room to move around. Theres no telling when the baby will come. If you are already 2 cm, and 39 weeks PG, it will be soon now!
