I am starting to see that I may have an odd period pattern...I go exactly 28 days from one month to the next and then the next month I am almost a week and a half late.I have only started tracking my period for the past 6 months, but its making this pattern.I am engaged and am involved with sexual activity. We use condoms everytime, and I am soon to be getting on birth control...I have used it before, but had severe side effects and am working with my Dr to deside whats right for me.What I want to know is,have any other woman delt with a pattern like this? From tracking sexual activity,I am at a very low risk of pregnancy for this month.I do feel as I will start my period soon.Just curious if other woman have delt with this...Thanks!

-*Qoute me on this...I am in a relationship,we have both been tested,We use condoms and pregnancy would not be a issue,I am only wondering about my cycle,im not asking if you think im pregnant.*-

Wow, lots of nice information to go on!

Well, first of all, you can do more than track your period and that includes tracking when you ovulate. A really good book for that is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and it can help you get pregnant or *not* get pregnant (which is what I use it for). She has you measure temps, observe your cervical fluid and your cervix location, and it can help you tell when you are most fertile and shouldn't have sex (only about 7-8 days per 32 day cycle for me). Anywho, that is just part of your question, this will tie in, promise!

The next part, is that your periods will be affected by when you ovulate (about 14 days after the first day of your period) and that can be delayed by stress, illness, travel, weight loss/gain, exercise, etc., etc.... You can't really tell if you are having a normal period without seeing when you ovulate and that is done by following the method in Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's a very easy method and takes about 1-2 minutes a day to track your temps etc. You could be stressing out right before you ovulate every other month, and then delaying your period....

The reason I am mentioning this book so much, is that you sound like a very responsible and observant person. I, and many other women have had terrible experiences on birth control pills. I had no sex drive, emotional ups and downs (I am a stable person normally) and I ATE. These are not good things for the beginning of a marriage! Back to the Pill.... Doctors recommend them because the drug companies push them and because they are easy for the unknowledgeable... On the other hand, if you are willing to do a little bit of reading, you can open a whole new world of your fertility and understand basic things like why you aren't having your period right when you thought you were supposed to. I can predict my period through knowing when I ovulate, and also realize if my stress level or something is postponing my ovulation. Anywho, if used correctly, this method is as effective as the pill. A german study found it to have a 0.03% failure rate if used correctly. Hope this answer wasn't too long, eek!

My mother often tells me that every seven years a women's body goes through a change so 7,14,21 and so on have you had a birthday lately. And sometimes your period does funny things when you have sex, i know for me and my guy when i want my period to start and I know it is close i have sex and it starts like a day ot two later. Also you can tell when it is about to come when your body odor starts th change down there. If you and you guy have been going together for a while he can tell when it smells different. Also it depends on if the month has 4 or 5 weeks in it and if the month ends on the 30th or 31st that makes a difference too, it is coming do not worry sometimes it is just weird have you been around a lot of females lately cause that can change your period to.

usually these problems are fixed with birth control. i have had a problem close to this where i went for over a month was off for 5 and went for another month or so, but my pattern was corrected with birth control. However, you could check your thyroid, that sometimes leads to an odd period pattern.
