I just started to take birth control and I followed the directions and took it the sunday after my period started, if your period starts on a sunday then the directions say start on a sunday and that is what i did, but I have been on my period for 3 going on 4 weeks now should I call the doctor or is my body just trying to adjust?

Also when I started taking the pill I was just spotting a little maybe I should have waited until it came on full and then, took the pill that next sunday.

Some breakthrough bleeding (when you're taking the pills NOT during your period) is perfectly normal, sometimes it is even as heavy as a light menstrual flow, especially if you miss pills.
I've been on birth control for a while now, so mine are regular and fine, but JUST after you start it's pretty common to bleed a little bit.
If it gets heavy, hurts, smells really bad, or doesn't stop within the next few days, call your doc/gyno/whatever, they'll be able to tell you if it's normal.
Good luck!

The only way this could be normal is if they are trying to correct a problem, like fibroid tumors or something of that sort, that usually cause prolonged bleeding, to begin with so that is why they put you on the pill. Which means it is not working, so call the doctor.
But if that isn't the case, you should not be doing this from the pill itself. Call your doctor.

you started your period AFTER you took the birth control pills? thats strange, unless you started with the pills that make you start your period. either way, it shouldn't have lasted this long being on birth control. you should go to the doctor.

This is abnormal, call your doctor. Your period should almost disappear when you are on the pill, not increase.

That doesnt seem normal, Id definitely see the doctor. I have been on the pill for 5 years and Ive never heard this problem. I had a friend who experienced this, though its rare. Please have it checked out.

If your period has lasted that long, you should call your doctor. It might just be break-through bleeding but that usually doesn't last.

Call your doctor. No advice you can get here will be as accurate or safe as your doctors.
