Hi, for my Performing Arts class, the teacher wants us to do an analysis of our favourite songs. I happened to pick the song "1000 Words" (it's from Final Fantasy X-2 for those who don't know) 'cuz I like the melody to it and... well, the teacher "prefers" nice slow songs over loud rapping ones (If ya know what I mean! =P).

Our assignment is to find the MEANING / THEME of the song as a WHOLE then ANALYZE each verse and chorus and try to RELATE it to the whole meaning of the song... Please, I really need your help!!!

Anyways, here are the lyrics:

Verse 1:
I know that you're hiding things
Using gentle words to shelter me
Your words were like a dream
But dreams could never fool me
Not that easily

Verse 2:
I acted so distant then
Didn't say goodbye before you left
But I was listening
You fight your battles far from me
Far too easily

Verse 3:
"Save your tears cause I'll come back"
I could hear that you whispered as you walked through that door
But still I swore
To hide the pain when I turn back the pages
Shouting might have been the answer
What if I'd cried my eyes out and begged you not to depart
But now I'm not afraid to say what's in my heart

Chorus 1:
Though a thousand words
Have never been spoken
They'll fly to you
Crossing over the time and distance holding you
Suspended on silver wings

And a thousand words
One thousand confessions
Will cradle you
Making all of the pain you feel seem far away
They'll hold you forever

Verse 3:
The dream isn't over yet
Though I often say I can't forget
I still relive that day
"You've been there with me all the way"
I still hear you say

Verse 4:
"Wait for me I'll write you letters"
I could see how you stammered with your eyes to the floor
But still I swore to hide the doubt
When I turn back the pages
Anger might have been the answer
What if I'd hung my head and said that I couldn't wait
But now I'm strong enough to know it's not too late

Chorus 2:
Cause a thousand words
Call out through the ages
They'll fly to you
Even though we can't see I know they're reaching you
Suspended on silver wings

Oh a thousand words
One thousand embraces
Will cradle you
Making all of your weary days seem far away
They'll hold you forever

Oh a thousand words
Have never been spoken
They'll fly to you
They'll carry you home and back into my arms
Suspended on silver wings ohhh

And a thousand words
Call out through the ages
They'll cradle you
Turning all of the lonely years to only days
They'll hold you forever

I would have to say that this artist is hurt by their compainion because of what he or she has done to them.yet that person will somehow have a thousand words to come back at them and then they will know how it feels. I hope this helps, I did the best I could.

curiously, pumped up kicks= a definite variety of footwear that are costly and in ordinary terms for the cool/hipster young infants. the song is a few youngster who is going on a killing spree capturing the cool/hipster young infants who're advise to him. that is meant to be ironic as that is largely a song approximately killing hipsters yet multiple hipsters in all likelihood like the song. sorry, do no longer truly recognize sufficient to bypass to any extent further in intensity approximately it.

The point that your teacher is trying to get you to "get" is that analyzing a song, or anything else, is a personal, individual thing. YOU analyze it Honey!. It'll enrich and educate you. Good Luck. Have fun.
Peace,
Laurie

I'm not doing your homework for you. What does it mean to you? The lyrics are simple--there's no real literary devices used in that song. Have at it!
