Well, it really depends on your geographical location; you may or may not need to travel over a large distance to get there. I speak of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. there are several theme parks fairly close to each other: Universal Studios, MGM Studios, Sea World, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow) Center, and Animal Kingdom. There is even a "free" indoor amusement arcade you can go to on those rainy days (they happen a lot!) called Disney Quest in the Downtown Disney Market Place. You need only pay an admission fee and almost all of the games and rides are FREE!! They have some 3-D games, bumper cars, and even a virtual roller coaster ride you can create on a computer (pretty easy stuff) that really can go upside-down!! You can get more information by logging on to: www.go.disney.com or by calling 1-800-WDW-INFO (1-800-939-4636) and asking for a free Vacation Planning Kit with a DVD or VHS tape included (tell the associate which you would prefer: DVD or VHS tape) If you have small children, have a sibling, or just want to get away from it all, if you like it BIG, WDW is the place to go!

It really depends on what you enjoy...
Six Flags parks are good theme parks if you love roller coasters and thrill rides. Cedar Point in Ohio is supposedly the best theme park for coasters, but I've never actually been there, so I can't say from experience.
Disney parks don't have as many thrill rides (though they have some), but they have something that everyone will enjoy. Disney pays special attention to the theming and atmosphere of their parks (and rides), putting them on a level above other theme parks (in my opinion anyway).
Universal Studios parks are based on movies and therefore have a lot of set tours and shows, but they have rides too. A lot of people love Universal Studios (especially the Florida one), but I've never been there either.
Busch Gardens and Seaworld parks have both rides and animal attractions (shows, exhibits, etc).
These are all parks in the US...I don't really know anything about parks in other countries.

I'd consider checking out Paramount Canada's Wonderland in Toronto, Ontario if I were you. They have the best roller coasters I know. But if you live in the States, you should probably hit Six Flags. Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you!! But Canada's Wonderland has roller coasters, kiddie rides, games, and other cool stuff like shows!! Last year, I went and saw a Cartoon Network presentation on cartooning, and it was awesome! I got to watch an old episode of Scooby Doo! It's also a great place to take younger children because it's got a Scooby Doo ride and other kid's stuff!! I highly reccomend it!!

I've been to all but a dozen parks around the country. My favorites range from huge megacoaster parks like Cedar Point to quaint traditional parks like Knoebel's and Indiana Beach. My favorites are chosen based on the overall fun experience and ride quality.
My 12 best parks are the following:
1. Cedar Point - Sandusky, OH
2. Disneyland - Anaheim, CA
3. Kennywood - Pittsburgh, PA
4. Busch Gardens Europe - Williamsburg, VA
5. Busch Gardens Africa - Tampa, FL
6. Knoebel's - Elysburg, PA
7. Islands of Adventure - Orlando, FL
8. Six Flags over Texas - Arlington, TX
9. Hersheypark - Hershey, PA
10. Dollywood - Pigeon Forge, TN
11. Indiana Beach - Monticello, IN
12. Holiday World - Santa Claus, IN
In constrast, the 5 worst parks are---
1. Elitch Gardens -- Denver, CO
2. Enchanted Village -- Federal Way, WA
3. Great America -- Santa Clara, CA
4. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom -- Louisville, KY
5. Six Flags Magic Mountain -- Valencia, CA (great potential, but a total disaster of a park)
If you would like pictures or other info on the above parks mentioned, feel free to email me.

The Cedar Fair parks are the best run in the world. They own 12 amusement parks that are all considered to be some of the best run parks. They are all clean, and committed to safety and guest satisfaction. Cedar Point, their flagship amusement park, has been voted the world's best amusement park for 9 years.
Six Flags has a couple good parks but they are mostly cluttered and full of cloned rides (like Batman: The Ride, Mind Eraser/Serial Thriller, and Boomerang - they are all mass cloned rides). Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Great Adventure, andSix Flags Great America are the only great Six Flags properties.
Universal and Disney are just devoted to scenery more than rides. Their rides are very well themed but usually lack in attracting devoted thrill riders.
Busch Gardens & Sea World, both owned by Busch Adventure Parks, are great parks that mix rides and scenery very well. They showcase some of the world's top rated roller coasters and Busch Gardens Europe (Virginia) has been voted the world's most beautiful park for several years. They also rank highly on the cleanest park's list.
The Paramount Parks were sold to Cedar Fair last year for $1.24 billion dollars. All of the parks continue to operate, all of them receiving millions of dollars worth of infrastructure upgrades this year.
And that covers your main amusement park operators.

A great theme park is Six Flags Great Adventure. It is located in Jackson, New Jersey. It is worth a trip there from anywhere around the world. It has the world famous Kingda Ka which definitely lives up to all its hype and even more. It is the world's highest and fastest roller coaster ever.It is definitely worth the trip and you won't regret it.

I would agree that Cedar Point is one of the best theme parks ever. I live close by, but have been to many theme parks around the country and not many come close. It is something you have to check out when visiting Ohio.

Six Flags St. Louis is great. It has Batman, a great inverted coaster; Screamin Eagle, a classic wooden coaster; Mr. Freeze, a great power launch coaster; and in 2007 Tony Hawk's Big Spin, a family coaster that spins! Plus it has many great ground rides, like Rush Street Flyer and XCalibur.
