Not that I'm the creepy guy who always goes out looking for younger girls, but there is one who seems to be very infatuated with me and it happens that she's 5 years younger than I am. Would there be any potential for legal problems if she and I were to become intimate?

Just don't have sex with her until she is 18 to make sure you are safe from being introuble. I bet you'd rather wait then have a lifetime background and to register on the sex offender list!

I think it's okay, I like a boy who's 20 and he hasnt tried to do anything to me lol as long as you both are mature enough to handle it and can wait until you become "intimate" then it's okay but yeah you should definately wait, she is only 17.......thats how old I am haha anyway in some states you can get into serious trouble with the law if you decide to have sex ...even with her conscent...you can still get in trouble because shes still a minor and you're an adult, so definately wait till she's 18 then its perfectly okay because she would be an adult too. Its not a big deal but just wait, thats what I would do anyway :) good luck.

As Disgusting as this is:

SC CONSTITUTION SECTION 33. Age of consent. -- No unmarried woman shall legally consent to sexual intercourse who shall not have attained the age of fourteen years. (1999 Act No. 3, Section 1, eff February 16, 1999)

Editors Note: Although the AOC in South Carolina is hard coded into the constitution, state statutes specify criminality for sexual conduct under the age of 16.

SECTION 16-15-140. Committing or attempting lewd act upon child under sixteen.

It is unlawful for a person over the age of fourteen years to wilfully and lewdly commit or attempt a lewd or lascivious act upon or with the body, or its parts, of a child under the age of sixteen years, with the intent of arousing, appealing to, or gratifying the lust or passions or sexual desires of the person or of the child.

A person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be fined in the discretion of the court or imprisoned not more than fifteen years, or both.

Call the local police department, and ask for the desk sargent. He should be able to tell you. Don't forget just because it is legal in the state does not mean it is legal in the county or city.

Yes there are! Although it does not appear to be statutory rape in SC, it IS contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Just wait until she's 18.

If you're not some 'creepy guy' then you'll be willing to wait until she's an adult to have sex with her. If you're not willing to do that much, then I guess you are a 'creepy guy'.

You can certainly date her...as long as her parents are okay with it, because until she turns 18, her parents get to decide who she and isn't allowed to spend time with.

So she "seems to be very infatuated with" you? I take that to mean you don't really know her that well and she you.... but already YOU are planning to have sex ?

You are very self centered.. thinking about the consequences for yourself but not about the impact the "relationship " will have on her...Do her a favor and go away !

Only if she is your cousin. You have to marry your cousin in south carolina otherwise it is considered "outbreeding".

seriously, the age of consent is 16 in sc. see below for more details: in short, you are in the clear... at least legally although narrow minded people like some above may look down on the relationship.
