I have now missed 2 months. I have a boyfriend but I know I am not pregnant. I take the birth control for my ovarian cysts. I am not sure if I should stop taking the pill. Will it hurt my chances of having a child in the future?

Sounds like you have PCOS, which causes you to have very irregular periods.

When you're ready to have kids, the Doctor can give you something to regulate your periods and help you become pregnant. So if you wanted to stop taking the pill, it wouldn't hurt as long as you're receiving treatment for you PCOS, if you have it.

I was on birth control for 6 years because of my cysts and being so irregular and the 1st month I stopped taking it I was pregnant.. started it again and again in a yr, first month off of it.. I was pregnant again... this time I got an IUD cause I wanted off the hormones, well now I'm back to getting my period every 2-3 months. So from my experience, I definately had no problem getting pregnant after 6 years on the pill.

My wife and I conceived by her taking birth control pills for about 3 months then switched to cloamed with no time between. the pills shank the ovarian cysts and the cloamed got the egg ready. Guess what? It worked. We now have two beautiful children. Taking b.c. pills does not get in the way of getting pregnant, it helps

If you are taking the pill for the cysts, you really ought to talk to your doctor. Many insurances, and medical groups have advice nurses as well... My advice is talk to one of those if you are reluctant to go to a doctor, otherwise see if you can somehow get in to see your doctor, especially if you are thinking of stopping taking the pill....

The thing about the pill is that it fools your body into thinking it is pregnant, so you don't really have real periods as you aren't ovulating (releasing an egg). There could be a lot of reasons why you aren't having that break-through bleeding, and your doctor is best qualified to talk to you about them! Anywho, good luck!

you should go to the doctor...the pills could be messing with your hormones causing you to miss it..not to mention if you are very active(athletics) that can cause you to miss a period.
