I've been dealing with jealousy ever since I can remember. Ever since I was a kid (the youngest) I always felt jealous urges against siblings, then into my first real relationship that lasted two years then ended because of my jealousy. And now, I cant stay in a relationship because I dont trust myself to not get jealous or I guess possessive over someone I care about strongly...stupid things set me off all the time, and the funny thing is is that I know they're stupid, so why cant I control them. It's gotten to the point where I dont want to go out anymore, I dont talk to a girl I am falling for because I dont want to feel the feelings of possessiveness and jealousy, but I cant control them. So my question is, are there any medical treatments for this kind of behavior?

the only remedy for jealousy..is a heart.
perhaps you should open your heart up more..to what other people are feeling.
you also should talk to someone qualified..about what you are feeling.

I see we have a bunch of mental health experts here! Well in fact jealousy can be treated with some medications. It can stem from chemical imbalance or even be an offspring of anxiety. The one thing I have heard that is correct here, is that you should go and talk to a psychologist about it and see what route to take in dealing with it. Good luck, and do some research instead of listening to people that think they know better. Medications are not the "EVIL" that people peg them to be and simply help balance your brains chemicals.

Pot in moderation can be good for dealing with perception problems like this. By giving the brain another chemical state to view things from it can help you see exactly why destructive emotions like jealously and hate are counter productive. Unfortunately the medical establishment and government have forbidden the old natural remedies (technically).

Truly, I think this is a matter of the heart. Talk to your local pastor and see if he can help you. The Bible has alot to say about jealousy.

If indeed you are dealing with an imbalance of chemicals in your brain, there are meds to help, but you must go through series after series of test from doctors. And then they still might say that it's a psychological issue that needs counseling.

Talk to your pastor first. See if God can help you. Good luck.

I don't believe their is a drug for jealousy, but i do believe there would be counseling. I can relate to your problem as I sound quite the same, although i am female and have been married for 20 years. Do not start taking any medication i do not believe this is the answer for anyone. Definitely Counseling

You may have other emotional issues and this emotion could be caused by something that happed to you and you have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Yes, there are meds you can take,
but, you will have to read up on "loving yourself".

And, do it!

no, but you need to talk to someone about your insecurities. that's where the jealousy is coming from.

i don't know why everyone thinks that there's a medicine for everything...some things just need to be worked out...

yes there are. talk to a psychiatrist and there is an in depth test you can take that can determine what medication will help you with what you're dealing with.
