This really irritates me too. And my family because every time I hear it I say -is there any other way to reverse?

This drives me crazy, also `refer back`
Another pet hate is the word `got` its not needed in a sentence.
Eg.` I have got a pencil `means exactly the same as` I have a pencil` Funny how silly things annoy.

People don't have a good grasp of the English language. I'm glad I'm not in school these days. I'm not sure anybody is teaching anything to our kids.

I've never said or had anyone say that to me. That's pretty redundant eh?

How about "forward planning" (is there any other sort?)
My favourite is "still waters run deep". No they don't. Still waters dont run at all!
