hi, i am in the10th grade in high school and i have been on the track team for about 4 weeks. i was going to play lacrosse because i have played that the longest, but i did not like the team. so i decided to run track. things went well, until today when my sprint coach told me and 1 more person to move to middle distance. i did very well in my 1st meet, i came in the top 3 in the 100m and 4 or 5 in 200m it bothers me a lot because of they way he announced it (it made it look like we were so bad that we should probably be throwers)and that i was having a lot of fun sprinting and i am not capable of doing any kind of distance. i hate to quit but i know it won't be the same. i also jump and am not very good at it, and ill only do long jump i am in general disturbed and annoyed at what happened, it was a hugeshock to me and the other person. it ruined by whole day the next meet is wed. i am suppos. to run the 200m and 400m along w long jump. should i quit the team?thank you so much!!

i think u shud probably go back 2 lacrosse, it seems like that ur running isnt the probably, ur coach upgrading u shud make people feel more elite, u probably miss lacrosse, i myself am a lacrosse middie, i once also quit lacrosse 4 track but it seemed 2 me that track was 2 boring so i went back 2 lacrosse, believe me i had my share of bad lacrosse players, but sometimes a good lacrosse play has 2 teach their teammates stuff and work with them, just kno that if ur better than them and they talk junk, u can just beast them lol, theres nothing that makes me feel better than leave sum1 embarrassed after trying 2 diss me

No, please do not give up on track just because your coach "thinks" you won't make it. Your past performances show that you have what it takes. And you have the most important attribute on your side........a good attitude. You like sprinting, so go for it. Show the coach that his assessmenat of you was just plain wrong.

Many years ago I ran sprints, and did the long jump too. Made my country's Olympic training squad.........but not quite good enough for the final team.

My idol was, and still is, "the Ebony Express"......Jesse Owens......still the greatest sprinter in history.

Good luck in the meet next Wednesday, and show them what you are made of. By the way, I found the long jump useful for sprints as it helps you improve your acceleration.

A better question than "should I quit the team?" is "should I be doing something that I enjoy?"
Put that way I think you will know the answer.
