"Night" by Eil Weissel
"Hit And Run" (non-fiction) and I can't remember the authors. It is the fascinating biograpic account of these two men (one was Barbra Striestan's hairdresser) who became the heads of Columbia/Tri-Star studios and nearly ran it into the ground.
"Beer Blast" by Phillip Van Munching is an interesting look at the advertizing war in the beer brewing industry in the last quarter of the 20th Century. From "Tastes Great"/"Less Filling" to Spuds McKenzie and beyond.

State of Fear by Michael Crichton. It's a fictional story about the politics of global warming. It's meant to illustrate how politics can manipulate science for it's own evil agendas and I think it nails it.

'The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance'. Don't be fooled by the title. It's about a man who travels with his son around the country.

"Life of Pi" by Yann Martel or "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. I have taught both of them to my college students, and they are excellent books for discussion.
