Gary Sheffield for Travis Hafner?

It depends on who gets Hafner. The reason trades get vetoed is not personal, it is because one player is giving another a second first round pick. In other words, depending on the team I would veto any trade of a first round draft pick that did not include another first rounder. This trade is on the edge but I would probably not veto this one - it's not just about who is a better player, it's about getting a player without having to pay the price of an early draft pick.
So, this trade is like a person getting Hafner in the fifth round instead of the second round.

No...I wouldnt veto it because even though they had different fantasy ranking this season one needs to look back just a bit further (the season before Sheffield had a higher fantasy ranking than Hafner). Hafner actually has a bit more of an injury history than Sheffield and when both are healthy they both put up dominant numbers. Sheff actually is a bit more valuable in the sense that he is 1st base and outfield eligible while Hafner is only Utility eligible. Using each guys respective numbers the last 3 or 4 years this is really a pretty even trade...Sheff got a little devalued based on the injury, not the ability.

I think so. It seems very lopsided. Hafner shouldn't be picked below the third round, even in a small league, where Sheffield could get taken a late as the sixth. That's a big difference. Plus, Hafner is just nearing his prime and Sheffield is past it and an injury risk.

I would absolutely veto that trade. Hafner is a fantasy monster and Sheffield is coming off of wrist surgery. Plus, Sheffield always gets hurt. Hafner is a DH, so injury is alot less there.

I'm in a league (live draft) where some numbskull traded Johann Santana (1st rounder) for Chien Ming Wang (7th rounder, after Wang was injured). The trade was vetoed 3 times. Then the league commissioner was bullied into letting all trades pass through with no voting.
So a Hafner for Sheffield deal looks reasonable.

It all depends on if it will benefit you the most. If you have a pretty good outfield already, and need a solid utility man, travis hafner is one of the best bets. If you are lacking an outfield, gary sheffield is going to have a phenomenal season and that is a good choice. The question is which will benefit you most?

Yes, Travis Hafner is a yound stud, getting better each year. Gary Sheffield is old and injury prone.

Not really. Hafner is UTIL only so maybe the Hafner person already has a decent UTIL or has 2 good players at the same position. Stat wise (especially if Sheff is healthy) they can be pretty close.

Trades are usually difficult to pull off. As long as it's not hafner for Fernando Valenzuela, you should let it slide.

No.....I think it is hard to make trades happen and this one is pretty close. Trust me I would rather have Hafner but it is close considering positions if this assuming it is fantasy. If you have a formidable backup at 1B then why not improve an OF position. When Shef is playing he is a force. The only problem is avoiding injuries. He was decent two years ago but injuries caught up with him last year.
