Maybe one of them worked for him too. Go tell him you won't turn up for court if he don't pay you.

You have no choice. You obviously provided a statement to the Police regarding this incident. Once the Police have finished their investigation it is down to the Crown Prosecution Service to decide if charges are to be filed against either or both of the two men. Because you've made a statement to the Police the CPS can call you as a witness to give evidence in Court should the offender(s) plead Not Guilty. Regardless of how you feel about your ex-boss you MUST attend court if advised to do so. This isn't a choice you get to make.
If you fail to attend Court the Magistrates will issue a Summons for you to attend which will be served on you by a Police Officer with Conduct Money to help you attend Court. If you don't adhere to a Summons the Magistrate can issue a Warrant for your arrest whereby the Police will take you to Court and the Magistrates will want a bloody good reason as to why you didn't attend when instructed to do so. If you cannot give a reasonable account for your absence you may be found in Contempt of Court and ordered to pay a fine or even serve time in Prison.
If you legitimately cannot attend Court contact your Witness Care Officer on the letter you were sent advising you to attend Court and explain why you can't make it. The Courts will work with you as much as possible if you give them sufficient notice of inconvenient dates but court time is precious so once a trial date is set it is hard to get out of attending.
The Police and the CPS cannot bring successful convictions against criminals without public assistance so do your civic duty and go to court; it is much easier in the long run than trying to get out of it.

Go to your State Department of labor, Division of Labor Standards, and they'll help you get paid. And go to court. If justice to you is less valuable than a grudge, you probably shouldn't apply to have your visa renewed. In other words, if you don't like the judicial system of the country you're living in, either work to change it for the better, or get the hell out. Frankly, I hope you'll stay and do the right thing. Good luck.

You will be in contempt of court if you don't attend as it is the court that has called you up to give evidence.
The best policy is always to be truthful because if you give erroneous evidence and you are found out it could go against your visa application.

Let them know how you feel and that you will be as uncooperative as you can during this process. If you try to negotiate financial compensation for specific testomony or refuse to answer a subpoena you could find yourself in jail. Don't let your personal hatred of the individual put yourself at risk.
If it comes down to it, give him your testimony, as you may have to anyway, then sue him for the money he owes you. The fact that you testified for him could win you major credibility points in a lawsuit.

If you have been called as a witness by a court, you have to go,whether you want to or not.Otherwise you you will be in trouble because you will be commiting a crime by not turning up at court and would probably be arrested. You must go.

you don't say if they were trying to rob the shop, maybe he owed them money? either way go into the shop and mention you could do with the wages he owes you and drop it in that you have to go to court as a witness and that they will ask you what type of person your employer is.

Suggest you go, because if you don't go they will pick you up and put you in jail until the trial is over.

Call your ex boss and tell him that if he pays you what he owes you it will clear up your memory. Don't put it in writing:)
