On the federal level, I'm not aware of an age where the purchasing of butane is controlled. I know that Great Britain has limited the purchasing age to 18. Within your specific city/state that may be another matter. Without knowing what state you live in I can't say what the specific laws are, if any. Remember, any business owner does have the right to refuse service and can choose not to sell butane to you as a matter of personal choice or professional guideline.
