My brother and I sword fight with wooden poles we fashioned into swords, and we want to build some protective, yet fashionable (for the era) armor..... any ideas? we'd prefer metal, but any type of forging, or weldingis completely out of the question... what materials would we use, where would we get these, etc.... any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! :)

It's not hard. Leather armor is easy to make. Tandy leather is a really good supplier. Get a piece that is about 6 feet long and cut a hole for your head. Then use an awl and punch holes up the sides and tie them up with leather lacings. That's about as basic as it gets. Another option is to take small metal rings and sew them to a piece of suede for ring mail.

you could find some one who is a member of the society for creative anachronism this group often makes armour for medieval reenactments you can find them at fall fairs or can look for posters advertising the society or could ask someone you know to ask at your local college if they know anyone who is a member or you could buy plastic swords and use multiple layers of hockey type protective gear and set up rules that a touch means you are dead to avoid injury
