Normally people who live in the North... such as these Swedes, the Russians, even the Northern Chinese tend to have very fair skin while the Southerners... such as Greeks, Italians, Vietnamese, Africans tend to have darker skin.
Why, then, do Eskimos/Inuits, who live in the ARCTIC, have mocha skin!
Weird isn't it?

The sun's pretty bright up there and it reflects pretty effectively on the snow and ice. I suspect this can cause tanning as well as any beach.

Because they were relatively new to the area historically speaking. They came across the land bridge from Asia through Russia . They're more Asian than Alaskan.

Because whatever sunlight they get at the North Pole, it is reflected right back at them from the snow and ice, so they are perpetually being "tanned" and have darker skin than one would expect.

The reflection of the sun off of the snow is what causes them to get that healthy glow.

i think the sun near the arctic can be pretty strong and plus i dont think they put on any sunscreen...
