i own a repair shop, and you got it right ,its a matter of dealing with it until its all gone, and this can be done by using a drying agent in it to help get rid of it,other wise its not going to ruin the car,or the engine, and you will know it when its all gone, the car will start running a little smoother and performing a little better, but its not going to ruin an engine,so many people have been told this that its getting ridiculous,it will just run like crap for a while, good luck with it,i hope this helps.

If the car still runs there will be no ill results. Heet or, I prefer a product called Seafoam that works really well.

How do you know you have water in the gas???

Stale or watered down gas can cause varnish buildup or corrosion that can indeed damage your car. It can build up in the injectors, rust the tank or fuel lines and even cause the valves to stick due to the varnish and sludge. Its recommended that the tank be drained professionally and fresh gas be installed. It can even make the car stall or not even start.

That depends on what it's watered down with. If just water, keep your tank full with pure gas and let the water steam clean your combustion chambers. If something else, drain the gas/sh-t mix out and start over.

I would not water down gas, since a car relies on minute explosions of essentially gas vapor to operate. If you had too much water vapor in the chamber, you don't get that explosion that drives the pistons.
