Like many MMo's the company that owns the games frown upon free servers. But like many MMo's there are always free servers. Folow the link below and you need to download the private server client. If you have your WoW game patched up to the newest patch you may need to uninstall and reistill the game and patch up only till th epatch they say. Example if Blizz server is running patch 5.02.03b the private server may be running patch 5.01.1c so make sure you read the instructions and you be ok

Mury to counter your responce about being hard to get anything, on some of the servers you can have agodly character and solo MC or any 60raid instance.

I don't believe you can. Like many MMO's the server side client is run by the company. To be able to play it on a private server, you would need some program that can emulate the company's client to integrate with your game.

Plain and simple, Blizzard isn't going to allow that.

Why would you even want to? It'd be so hard to get any of the rare drops/epics/etc, cause you wouldn't have thousands of other people playing with you. You'd have to farm the crap out of anything to get the good stuff.
