The car idles real low when started cold. When the engine warms, the idle continually rises. I thought it was the throttle position sensor, because I could lower the idle by lifting up on the accelerator pedal-- It was like it wasnot going all the way down- the rpm would sit around 1200 to 1500- when the pedal lifts it goes to 750. I changed the tps 2 times- no change. I thought idle air control valve was bad, when i changed it the rpms shot up to like 2500 to 3000 and then slowly creep down-- real slow. So I disconnected the idle air control, rpms are normal, but the pedal thing still happens. I have no idea what to do next, have any ideas?

idle control valve is use when in cold-starting situation,. what it do,during idle when its cold the valve opens a small air hole at the throttle body, when xtra air is sucked the fuel mixture going rich that cause it to warm.. in your case the small air hole inside the throtle body for the idle valve is clogging..
also check your distributor ignition timing.. is it in retard position
