No, unless ofcourse you drive a company vehicle. Whether or not a person has had a DUI in the past or present should'nt be an issue when applying for a job, good grief, people are not perfect, for all you know the owner of the business has had a DUI, do you expect him to tell you about his mistake. The most important thing is that you don't drink and drive again, next time it could be a life lost.

Hmmm... it would depend on if the application has a criminal-history block on it, or if you're asked about any criminal-history.

Failure to disclose the information would be failure to disclose, and would constitute violation of the contract.

I was asked in a 1998 interview and copped to my 1997 DUI... I WAS hired and worked there for 6 years before we got downsized

Yes, they have the right to know just as you do. An employer-employee relationship must be built on trust like any relationship.

It doesn't matter. Bush lied about his DUI and then got caught on it by a reporter. He was still elected President.

No, it is none of their business UNLESS it can legitimately affect your hiring status (ie. if you are applying to be a school bus driver, security personnel, etc.)
If the employer chooses to conduct a criminal background check, he/she will be able to see the charge and may question you about it later if they choose to.

...sounds like a personal decision to me... if the job doesn't require driving ans has absolutely nothing with driving or a drivers license... why...? like I said, it's a personal choice.
