My best friend doesn't approve of gay people. I'm bi and she doesn't know. Should I tell her? I am married and not interested in her at all like that. We are very close friends and she is pretty much my only friend where I live so I would be devestated to lose her but I don't want to hide it from her. What should I do and how should I tell her?

Hi there. I hope I can help you out with this. Through personal experience, I've come to realize that many homophobic people are homophobic for the simple fact that they can't put a "face" with the word "gay." All they hear is that word, and because they aren't close to anyone who is gay, they cannot understand it. Remember, people fear what they don't understand. If your best friend were to associate you (her best friend) with the word "gay" then she would have to reconsider her opinion...especially if she loves you as much as she claims. I would definitely tell her and try to break it to her gently. If she is your best friend, then she will love and accept you no matter what. Hope this helps, and good luck to you!

If she's truly your best friend it shouldn't matter what your orientation is. After all, what does that have to do with your friendship and how does that change what kind of a person you are? Even if she doesn't approve of gay people if she's your best friend she should understand.

Just tell her. If she doesnt approve than she isnt a good friend. If she does approve, you might convince her to like gays.

tell her. you can't judge a person just because of their sexuality. and keep it in mind, that your only "half" gay- but i mean, your married...so why worry now? shouldn't you have told her sooner? hopefully, it didn't cause this marriage on just this point...

Honestly, just tell her. A true friend will stick beside you whether they agree or disagree.

well you answered your own question...."I would be devastated to lose her but I don't want to hide it from her"...so you are going to tell her. Good luck.
