An easy way is to check in the periodic table to see if you get the answer right because it shows you the to level. For nitrogen its 1s^2 2s^2 2p^3
Start with 1s put two strikes move up to 2s put 2 strikes then go to 2p which has three levels then go to 3s then go to 3p levels then 4s and 4p and then five 3d levels. (3d is in between 4s and 4p) and when you reach 6s you put in 7f levels. Your teacher will want the whole electron configuration not the one from the periodic table use the periodic table only to check and see if you got it right.

................ 6p_ _ _
....................................... 5d _ _ _ _ _
_ 6s ..................... ..........................4f _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ 4d _ _ _ _ _
_ 5p
5s

_ 4p 3d _ _ _ _ _

_ 3p
3s _ _ _
_ 2p
2s

1s
Each strike is a electron so above is 1s^2

You ultimately need to be able to figure these out for yourself.

Get a periodic table. The left two columns correspond to electrons in an s orbital, the right 6 columns correspond to electrons in p orbitals, the center part corresponds to electrons in d orbitals, and the two rows at the bottom correspond to electrons in an f orbital. You also need to remember that a s shell can hold 2 electrons, p can hold 6, d can hold 10 and f can hold 14.

Now, there is an odd order of filling once you get into the d orbitals, but the beginning order is 1s 2s 2p 3s 3p 4s 3d 4p 5s 4d 5p 6s 4f 5d 6p 7s

Now, nitrogen has 7 electrons so its electron configuration is:

1s2 2s2 2p3

titanium has 22 electrons, so you start the same way and go until you get 22 electrons accounted for:

1s2, 2s2, 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d2

I'll let you do the others...
