Frogs are relatively easy to care for and cheap (depending on species) most only require a 10-20 gal aquarium or terrarium. Frogs all eat small insects, larger breed eat larger things. there isn't much a frog won't eat. if it fits in it's mouth, generally it will get eaten. be sure to have live plants and a water source. Be sure to have fresh water daily. You will need some sort of substrate again depending on species. talk to your local pet store employee to find a good breed for beginners. They will be able to set you up with everything you need. here is a quick starter list.
spray bottle(for misting)
Light(full spectrum)
thermometer
hydrometer
substrate(bedding)
Plants( live not fake)
water dish or pond
Terrarium heater
Care sheet or book
you should be able to start a good set up for Arond $200

It depends on what type of frog you are looking for.
The tree frogs tend to require a bigger tank (Preferable higher rather than more floor space) This could cost anywhere between $10-40 depending on the style. These guys eat insects so if you feed live it could get costly.
The Water frogs can be in a 5-10 gallon depending on weather or not it is a dwarf. This will probably cost $10-20. Feed them Reptomaine Floating sticks there cheep and they are a pretty good diet.
Regular every day frogs will probably need a 10 gallon tank, with wood chips or something like that as a substrate. These eat mainly insects as well.
I prefer the African Clawed Frog, there generally cheep to maintain and very Hardy from my experience with my 13 year old one. I feed it Reptomine floating pellets and fully change his water once a week.
Frogs in general don't require a lot of maintenance, but proper temp and humidity must be maintained. (a squirt bottle works good for maintaining humidity).

I have a pacman frog. We think he is really a she- we did some online research and her name is BRUCE.
She was $20. The tank is a small one- I think 10 gallon. It was about $35 with a filter. It's a cheap one. We had to buy rocks. Those were about $5. And she eats a fish a day. The fish she eats are called feeder fish- you can get them at petsmart for $.12. Cheap! Walmart has them for $.28. I bought a plastic fish bowl for $3.99 at Petsmart for the fish and I needed some PH balancing solution for the water. And you have to get a net to get the fish. Maybe another $4. I suggest reading about Pacman frogs on the internet- but if you have a busy lifestyle they are great. They need no stimulation. They just eat thier fish. Sometimes Bruce gets wild and moves to the other side of the tank- but thats about it. She's pretty cute though- and should live to be old!

I have two adorable green tree frogs, and they are easy to maintain. Each cost me $8, and you can get a good 20 gallon aquarium (point it tall since they sit in leaves) with a cover for like $30 at PetSmart (though even larger would be better, but these guys stay small so that should make them happy..). Their food is crickets, and they eat about $1 worth three times a week. Plus you need to get calcium to dust the crickets, which is like $6-8, but so far has lasted me for a month and I have hardly made a dent in it (they must have calcium or htey will die). You can just put papertowels on the bottom, otherwise it could cost $10 for two months of soil for their floor. A water dish is like $3 or so if you get fancier, and I got a fake little tree for htem to climb in for $11 and its really nice. They dont need a light, but you do want to have a spritzer bottle to spray them and keep them humidified. And I also have a temperature and humidity reader, those cost me $10 for the pair, but I think you can get them cheaper. Once you have all the set up stuff, theyre fairly inexpensive to take care of, but tehy do need care and crickets (all frogs do) so you are taking on a responsibility. Good luck in your decision!
** a good tank could cost a little more, but just look for the glass ones to keep in the humidity, with covers. You do not need a heater with these guys. Also, these guys will drown so you dont want to put in too much water, just enough for them to drink through their skin. Dont mix them with other frogs -- bigger ones will eat them, and the toads will poison them.

Depending on the type of frog you get they need a special type of lighting and a moist enviroment. You will need a water source, a thermometer, a tank, heat source, light source, food, etc. Live plants make for a neat terrarium. Go to your local pet store and ask the store personell for suggesions, they're very helpful and knowledgeable in most cases.

I have fire belly toads and they are really easy to care for. I keep them in a 10 gallon aquarium that only cost $10.00 at Walmart. I have it set up for a half land half water. I bought a bag of large fish gravel. Make sure that it big enough that it can't be swallowed by the toads. That cost me like $5.00. Then I put water in the other half of the aquarium. Then I bought some fake plant for them to play in and they cost $5.00. I also have guppies in the water. They eat them.
