Talk with your financial aid counselor in the financial aid department at your school where you want to finish your degree. The steps are simple. You go online to www.fafsa.gov and complete an application once you finish your taxes. You need your taxes filed, so that you can use the information to complete the forms online. You then select the school where you want to send your financial aid forms.

Your school will also have a one or two page application. The school may also have grants or loans for non-traditional older students. The school will then examine your financial status and make a decision on how much money you are granted or loaned.

Nearly anyone can take out a Stafford Loan for a credible degree program taken through a accredited school.

First step, contact your schools financial aid/scholarship office. Then go online and complete the fafsa. All the financial aid paperwork for the government is free. If you have to pay, then it's a scam.

Some banks may also offer loans, but I would work through the proper system.
