What would happen to SSA in the future? Will elders, people with disabilities, and the families who are in extreme poverty depend SSA anymore?

Our senators and congressman do not pay into social security and they do not collect from it either. When they retire they continue to draw the same pay until they die. the cost of there fantastic plan is $0.00. Our tax dollars at work. Take the golden fleece retirement plan away from the senators and congressman. Put them into the social security plan with the rest of us and see how fast they would fix the problems.

Social Security must be preserved. In order to preserve it, the budget deficit and the national debt MUST BE SOLVED. These issues are one and the same and it is smoke and mirrors to suggest that SSA will not be solvent.

Because boomers are at the height of their earnings, they are and have been paying surplus amounts into Social Security beyond the benefits that are being paid out each year. Although Congress promised to create a 'lock box' out of this surplus, they actually raided the money and placed government debt bonds in its place.

So at a time when demands on SSA increase beyond what is taken in and SS withholding may have to be increased - taxes will also have to be increased in order for taxpayers to pay off the debt bonds and pay back Social Security.

What a crooked thing to do...but it is already done. The only solution may be for boomers to accept reduced benefits after having paid increased contributions in order to maintain the solvency of this program for future generations.

I think they want to elimanite that. I think they want to change MID-STREEM the rules.. Problem is .....people paid in...they abided by the rules expecting something for it......now they want to change it. What about them?

I realize things have changed.....but when did it? People were paying in and they should be able to reap the benefits of the game they were playing. Change the rules then give people time to change......

All I know is that it pisses me off to think that I'm forced to pay into social security, when in reality it will be long gone before I am eligible to collect on it, when I retire. WHAT A JOKE
