By the way I just got into Meat Loaf, all these years I didn't know what I was missing...

The verse goes, "Objects in the rear veiw mirror may appear closer than they really are..." But as I was driving down the road listening to the song I looked in my side mirror and it said, "OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY REALLY ARE." What's the meaning?

Its a metaphor

Notice it says "rear view mirror"

Its saying looking back on a love recently lost, you think in your head that they still want you to a degree, but in reality they just want to get away from you.
