There are actually several meanings for descendant. One is someone who is descended from an earlier generation. For example, George W. Bush is a descendant of George Bush Sr. Prince Charles is a descendant of Queen Elizabeth. Seabiscuit was a descendent of Man O' War (both very famous racehorses)
Descendent (or descendant, both spellings are correct) is also used in astrology to mean a star that is moving towards the horizon.
Descendent is also used when talking about things like engineering projects. For example, the computer you are working on now is a descendent of the early computers, that took up vast amounts of space and were not able to do a fraction of what today's laptop can do.
hope this helps.

Have you tried a dictionary?
Anyway, a descendant is a person descended from another. For example, a child or a grandchild is a descendant. A sister or nephew wouldn't be a descendant.
