I've got 8 protections, and I'm waffling. Here are my best options. I guess it would be simplest to tell me which 3 you would cut...

Teixeira
Thome
Felipe Lopez
Julio Lugo
Gary Sheffield
JD Drew
Rolen
Piazza
Ramon Hernandez
Bobby Jenks
Chris Ray

FYI, we start 2 catchers in my league, so it wouldn't necessarily be bad to have both Piazza/Hernandez. I'm also undecided as to whether I want one or both of Jenks/Ray. But my SP prospects are dismal, so it might be nice not to have to worry about any RPs.

Any opinions? Thanks!

Piazza just isn't going to play nearly as much as people think...I would drop him and find someone else. Drop him.

Also, drop Lugo...Lopez is better.

I think I would also drop Drew. He has really only had a few healthy seasons...I just don't trust him to be healthy all season again.

I think you are right...if you don't have solid SP's you need to hold on to you're relievers. Thome and Teixeira are solid, Rolen should bounce back, and Shef will split time between 1st, RF, and DH but he will play everyday.

If it were me I would drop Drew...he has too big a history of injuries and with the big contract may not be properly motivated. Lopez....I have to disagree with everyone who says Lopez is better than Lugo, check eachs career numbers and then consider that Lugo is hitting at the top of the Red Sox lineup (that means Big Papi and Ramirez hitting behind him) while Lopez is managed by Manny Acta who anyone who follows baseball closely knows isnt big on running (so the on category he could be real good at he might not get the opportunity) and no Soriano or Nick the Stick (injured yet again) to hit behind him, not much run producion (the other ctaegory he usually is good at). And Piazza would be my last choice....not sure he can adjust to AL pitching quick enough and there will be some good catchers available during your draft (think about guys like Martin...Barrett or even someone like Liard in Texas). After the draft you may want to move Jenks...his mechanics were horrendous at the end of last season and the White Sox decided they arent sure he wont have arm problems so they signed McDougal just in case.

Okay, you obviously want to keep Tex, Thome, Rolen, and Sheff
After this I would say keep Jenks, Ray, Piazza, and Lopez
