Personally I'd like to clear it up in mind once and for all. Will someone explain both sides?

Israel didn't steal thier land. The UN granted them statehood on Palestine land. The reason they claim Gaza and the Goland Heights is because of the Six Day War when Eygpt , Jordan and Syria tried to take over Israel, they came from the north (Goland Heights) and from the south ( Gaza) and occupied the land unitl the end of the war, which Israel won. Israel won that land, which was thier's from the begining, but won it back in the Six Day War.

Basically, Palestine has never been a recognized country and has not owned land in the traditional since. For instance, you have a basic understanding when you leave the US for Canada that you are leaving one country for another. Palestinians were originally cast out of Arab lands and settled in and around what we now know as Israel. As part of the resolution process of WWII the Jews were given what we now refer to as Israel for reparations. So essentially it was a western resolution to give this strip of land to the Jews. To further confuse the issues, prior to WWII, the UK had arbitrarily drawn international boundary lines throughout the middle east. These border lines did not necessarily group those with similar backgrounds together. Israel did not steal land from Palestine, it was gifted to them by western nations. It is the western nations that "stole" the land. There was the Arab/Israel conflict (1967?) were the boundaries of Israel were increased marginally. The problem with Palestine is that no country wants them. They are a displaced people with no where to go. The West can not ask Israel to give the land back because the West gave the land in the first place. The Arabs don't want them . . . they had already kicked them out so Palestine is stuck. I often wonder what the world would be like today if the west had the nerve to give Jews Germany.

Israel was awarded the land by the UN back in 1947. As soon as this happened the Arabs opened up on the people who were there with everything they could throw at them. The people informed the Arabs that if they got together they could have a great nation which would be prosperous for all concerned but Arabs being what they are and have been for centuries said absolutely not. This developed into a war and the Palestinians lost and were thrown out of Palestine. The Jews gave back most of the land they captured during the war but the situation is far from settled and will never be to my way of thinking. The Jews will never give Jerusalem back to the Arabs because it was theirs to begin with. The situation is a very tough one to resolve because it would mean that both parties would have to back off its position and so far the Arabs have said "no way!" In the days of Jesus, before the Arabs were in the land, who lived in Palestine or Israel as it was called? The Jews. They will never back off.

There is no palestine. It's a region like saying the south west. There are no real palestinians. That was a name thought up by Arafat who called himself palestinian when he was really an Egyptian, born, raised and educated.

How can someone steal something from a people that doesn't really exist? The land was given to Israel/Jews then all of the Arabs wanted to steal it. The Arabs started 5 wars with Israel and they got their butts kicked all 5 times then the Arabs started forcing the palestinians to move into Israel where they became pawns for the Arabs. They were and still are nothing but canon fodder.

If the palestinans were really from Israel, why did Jordan have to kill between 10,000 and 20,000 in one month in Jordan for trying to take over Jordan which was also lead by none other than Arafat?

I wish an explanation existed. Political injustice exists in the world, those with power use it, those without power get it used on them. It has been that way ever since the first cave man picked up a rock and bashed his brother in the head with it over the first camp fire. The Bush administration took it to another level, and dishonered the memory of 9/11 with today's Middle East policy.

The emotion and hatred in the region is too much for rational people to grasp, and the concept of "owning land" should not be reason enough to justify the history of violence in the region. The only handle on the Palestinian(Arab)/Jewish problem I can give you is to step back and consider this anology:

Britian played the Catholics off against the Protestants in Ireland for decades in an effort to manipulate both sides and control the Island. Those who manipulate the Middle East do the same with the Arabs and the Jews. Unfortuantely the emotion is so high between the two sides, they don't care that others are pulling their strings, they just hate each other.

How did Israel steal the land from the Palestinians when God gave the land to the Israelites to begin with! This is THEIR land for now and always!

the UN did pass a resolution that allowed palestinians to return and reclaim their homes; unfortunetly Israel does not recognize said resolution. Thus palestinians feel they are not being protected/helped by the international community

And...eh...what would those proper channels be?
They'd get no backing from the UN. Israel is somehow untouchable when it comes to the rules everyone else has to follow. Just like the US for that matter.

To stop the conflict why dont they read the old text and come to a solution there old world maps and tribal family history to find out who settle where in middle east to stop conflict.
