Well, he did admit that he didn't prepare for games to the media. So yes, the media influence made the thing snowball and it became a distraction.

Personally, I think they got a bit overconfident in the first half of the season, when they were crushing everyone. I pin that on Lovie Smith. After the 2005 Carolina disaster in the playoffs, he needed to keep Grossman and the boys humble. The were feasting on some pretty pathetic NFC teams, and should have lost to the lowly Cardinals.

Rex probably didn't prepare enough. He could be very, very good if he applied himself.

He'll get the last laugh if he stays the starter.

Did the media play defense? He is already laughing because he is starting an NFL team and I am sure he even finds this silly.
