Clouds are the product of immense evaporation overa large area and the condensation. When heat warms a body of water, that water goes into the air. Some comes back in the form of dew, other is inhaled by plants and animals.
Most of the Vapor raises higher into the sky in wind drafts convected by land to sea air drafts created by the evaporation itself. This allows it to go high into the atmosphere. After it reaches areas close to 8-12 thousand feet, the vapor begins to condense onto particles and dust i the atmosphere.
As soon as it gets cool enough and the condesned water becomes heavy it begins to fall despite the wind and rain falls.
Oh, and just for a quick throw, if an entire storm cloud falls out of the sky, it could fill the area of death valley.

A cloud is made up of water. the water cycle is where water evaporates up to the sky which gets cold and forms clouds but only on super hot days. then a few hours later the rain gets to heavy in the cloud and the rain falls. then it starts all over again.
