How do I get a paler complexion without sheltering myself insde?

I heard that if I wear black it will make my skin look paler but I don't want to burn myself up in the sun and I don't want to stay inside either.

when you go outside put on lots of sunscreen like spf. 50 also where hats to keep your face covered. and apply sunscreen often
