If he were to run, could he take it all? I heard the Dems fear only him as a possible candidate because he could solidify the conservative base. Is that true?

Fred Dalton Thompson is a straight shooter who earned the respect of both parties while he was in the Senate. Believe it or not, he started his acting career by playing himself in a movie about his fight against corruption in Tennessee politics. In most of his films and tv jobs he still seems to be playing himself.

Although I am a Democrat, if Fred decides to take the plunge and run, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Most of the other candidates, on both sides, will have to adjust mightily to deal with him.

Anything goes at this point, I saw a poll on tv that had as 44% electable vs. Hillary 43%, which considering she has been running for President all along, and Thompson is being reluctantly drafted, is interesting. What we need is details on what he stands for. (Well, same for Hillary but she does have a senate record to go by), we need Thompson's voting record.

He could win the presidency. But not of the United States.

Solidifying the conservative base won't happen again. Too many phonies.

i'd vote for him, but in the back of my mine i would still kinda think of him as bill france in days of thunder lol, i think he has a good grasp on the issues and isn't a professional political toy boy. he says what he means and sticks by his guns and is intimidating to the other big cats on the hill. wish he would.

Good question...But I doubt it. He is not Regan and the dems do not fear him...that's a load of BS.

It's still way too early to call. Yes, he could win, but so could dozens of other people.
