Try weaning him slowly. Maybe try 7oz in each bottle for a couple of days then gradually make it less and less until he is done with each bottle. Otherwise try weaning him from a bottle all together and have him start with a sippy cup. Then limit his liquids to a cup just for bed time and none throughout the night. When he wakes just show him the empty cup and say all gone. Maybe just let him hold the empty cup, it could be his security item (you could do this with a bottle also). I dont think he really needs that much liquids through out the night it seems more like a habit.

because he is used to it and you let him. As simple as that. You need to give him plenty before bed ( a cup ) and then make him go a night without it ...no matter how hard!!! I had to do it with mine and it was just habit that made her do it. It does not hurt them to let them cry. The only thing you might need to do is make sure he does not have diabetes or something like that ( check with a doc. ) also if he drinks a ton in the day that is a sign of diabetes if not it is just a habit.

He does not need water through the night. He just likes the sucking. He needs a pacifier not a bottle of water.

It could just be that he uses it to pacify himself. try taking it after he falls asleep and dont give him another till he is up for the day. He may be crankey at first but he will find other ways to fall asleep and stay asleep. Good luck.

Try pushing him to drink more in the AM, and taper it off after supper. If you are in a warm climate it may be the adjusting to hotter temps.

what makes you give him water so much during the night. Maybe he's doing this because it's routine.
Then again maybe you should tell the doctor he's so thirsty, could be diabetes!

he doesn't need it at 13 months or any age., this is just a habit, you should never be getting up all night for a 13 m.o. child.

not to be a wise butt, but he is drinking it all because you give it all to him.
try just giving one bottle a night--if he gets fussy, add some lemon juice to it--he'll soon give up the night time bottles.
(seriously, it works)
