There are 100 other countries more barbaric than ours. What you see in other countries by visiting, yes would seem peaceful...as it does here. I don't know what movies have to do with it. Other countries make brutal movies too and you all watch them as well. Your mind isn't as broad as you think it is.

Exhibit A: We are the only country in the world to have used a nuclear bomb on any other country.
Exhibit B: We are being investigated RIGHT NOW for war crimes in Iraq and in our detention facilities.
Exhibit C: We have the highest rates of crime for any industrialized nation.
You may of course make your own conclusions, but I believe we are a nation founded on violence, from the overthrow of the British, the extermination/genocide against the Native Americans, the lawlessness of the wild west, and even in the present we thrive on a uniquely american type of bloodlust. I am not sure it is an entirely bad thing, many of the most powerful civilizations before us had the same quality. Perhaps it is inevitable that the inequality in global power results in unequal use of violence to retain power.

You must be forgetting that you are living in a country where people have freedom to their beliefs, speech, press, etc. and the chance to become financially stable.
In a free society or a dictated society there is going to be violence. It has been going on with mankind for centuries.
No the United States is not barbaric. Saddam Hussein was. As far as movies are concerned, Hollywood is exercising its right to free speech. Nobody forces anyone to see a movie. It is one of the free choices people in the USA has.
If you don't believe that mankind has been fighting each other for centuries, just ask the cavemen of GEICO.

You have evidently went to watch them too since you know what they are all about and what they show. Don't be a hypocrite. If you don't live movies stay away from the theaters. It's just a movie. FICTION!!! Get over yourself!
There are countries that show dragging dead(maybe they weren't dead when they started) soldiers through city's and beheading people & hanging people & cutting people hands of for stealing on national TV and you call the US barbaric? What exactly is your meaning of barbaric?

The reason other countries seam so peaceful, is because they don't cuddly their criminals like we do. They throw them into prison with no T.V's, no books, no phones, and no bull ****!!! Step out of line, and your dead!! Some just shoot ya right on the spot. They don't take any crap. Steal a car over there, and you dead. They'll just pull you out of the car, and put a bullet to the head and drop you right there!! And don't even think about drugs.

Yes the USA seems to have a theme such as "do as I say not as I do". The USA executes more than their share of criminals. I do think though that sometimes it is not a fair comparison of our violence rate compared other countries because in the USA we have many different races i.e. Mexican, African American and many others that have different ways of life and we have different cultures. To compare us against Japan is not fair because they are all the same race and culture.

(1) I think the only reason people like to see horror movies is they aren't real
(2) The reason there's more violence is there is more to fight for, we have an advanced community.
(3) I agree that we (Americans) could be better and not fight, steal, kill, but we (humans) killing is in our nature & if you look at Iraq they have violence, if you look at Russa there is death by humans It isn't just in the U.S. it's around the whole world, so if the U.S. is labeled "barbaric" then Earth should be to.
