for breakfast people usually drink coffee or any fruit juice along with any of the following: hojaldre, tortilla (very different from mexican), fried green plantain (patacón), boiled or fried yuca (in dices or carimañola), or bollo which is made from corn, similar to a mexican tamal perhaps but with no filling....... and whatever they chose from this list goes with..... fried or scrambled eggs, chopped steak and vegetables, liver, smoked meat (tasajo), hot dogs in tomato sauce, chorizo, fried chicken and even fried fish. some guys just go for oatmeal or fruit but no doughnuts, pop-tarts, pancackes just for the kids as well as waffles...
for lunch there has to be rice, generally white rice along with a miniestra (beans or lentils), vegetable and a meat, chicken or seafood that can be of great variety anything you can think of really ........ some go for, instead of rice, fried green plantain, baked potatoe, french fries if they go to a restaurant, but if the eating is done at home... rice will always be there. Alot of people have soup as well, always with rice...chicken soup or sancocho is popular especially at family get togethers during the weekend, meat soup, lentil soup with plantain, fish or seafood soup, just about soup made out of anything.
dinner goes the same as lunch unless you are on a diet.
i wouldnt say that there is such a thing as a popular dish...... the food, as well as the people in panama are of great variety.

I would have to say tortillas, as it's common to eat them for breakfast. Also you may eat them for lunch or dinner. Not very common, but it can happen...specially if you have a couple of late night drinks and you're hungry.
