You should use a sphincter muscle relaxer and plenty of lubrication. Otherwise, it will hurt!

No sex should hurt. Unless you're into BDSM, pain shouldn't be a part of your sexual experience, and there definitely wouldn't be so many practicioners of anal sex- gay and straight, men and women alike- if it really did hurt badly.
That said, yes, anal sex can be uncomfortable, especially the first few times, because, like with first-time vaginal sex, the areas haven't been exposed to any sort of penetration, so they aren't used to it. You're stretching muscles that haven't been used, and anyone who's exercised can tell you that soreness is going to be involved when that happens. Moreover, the rectum is different from the vagina, which is just an empty cavity- the rectum is actually a muscle, which means that it can tense and relax. The vagina produces it's own lubrication; the anus cannot. Combine these two facts- the rectum being a non-self-lubricating muscle- and if you don't take preparations, you can seriously be in some pain.
That's why it's absolutely necessary to use tons of good-quality lubrication made specifically for anal sex, and to make sure one's partner is completely relaxed and at ease. Additionally, it may help to stretch the anus beforehand, practicing with incrementally larger dildos or more fingers, so that it is used to stretching and taking something larger, so the first time won't be so uncomfortable.
There are some people who simply love anal sex, take to it instantly, and never have a problem. Most of us, however, have more difficulty with it, and have to work up to it- eventually finding pleasure after a few first times. And still a good number of people find that they simply don't like it, and that it isn't for them. All options are fine, of course.

It depends. Here are some ground rules!
1) You have to use lubrication. Not doing so can damage the ....inside of you *** or rectum.
2) Use a condom! A lubricated condom.
3) This is the most important. Get a guy who knows what he's doing. You don't want someone new to this or it will hurt and you will want to KILL HIM! But my experiences of being a bottom are and were enjoyable. Just don't be afraid to tell him "STOP" when it hurts.

the first few times i tried it it hurt really bad for the first few min then got great. After some practice, i love it. The only time it hurts is when the guy is really big

If you get a caring and experienced man, such as ME, who uses a lot of lube and other techniques to relax your muscles, it would not and you would certainly enjoy it immensly.

really good question i have never bottomed b4 but have put large things in there and had to stop because of the pain but once the pain was over which took like seconds it was all pleasure from there i love the feeling

Not for me, I'm a top. Bottom... I wouldn't say it's painful, just really uncomfortable.
