Potentially completely devastating. A single spider can eat around 2-3 insects a day. By the time the population started running down I believe they would start cannibalizing.

That's 57.4 spiders per square foot! The only way you could have that many spiders per planform area is to have a tropical rainforest. Otherwise, the spiders would all starve from a lack of food and would definitely go after each other to eat!
