but it is not illegal for a child to act out in school disrupting other kids education.

I don't want you to blame it on child mentality because if it is 5 out of 20 children acting out then it is not due to mentality or age... It is due to them knowing they can get away with it. Children know right from wrong, and they also learn what they can get away with.... IT'S CALLED OPERATE CONDITIONING!

In NYS, corporal punishment is legal as long as it is not excessive. (Bruising, cutting or injuring them) Span their bottoms until it is red I say!

First, it is not illegal to spank your kids. And as others have mentioned, "spank" and "beat" are not equal.

I spanked all of my kids. My youngest is 15 now.

My kids have occasionally "acted out" in school too...with unhappy responses when they got home. They learned either not to get caught doing it or to not do it. Hopefully the latter.

I also am sick and tired of these parents who blame the school for everything. I don't agree with all the school policies either, but part of my kids' learning experience is how to get along when there is unfairness involved. Usually the school is adequately fair, but there were instances of gross unfairness. My kids learned how to deal with that because it is something they will encounter as adults sooner or later.

My kids learned much more than academics from their school experience. They learned how to accept that "s h i t happens" and you deal with it. They learned that there are people in life that you have to force yourself to get along with even though they are unfair to you. They learned that you don't dwell on every little error or transgression...that you go on and persevere rather than whine.

It's no wonder a kid "acts out" if his parent is always going to stick up for him right or wrong.

It isn't illegal to spank your children (if they are YOUR children, I'm a bit confused about your question, as you refer to their school behavior). Every state is a bit different, but in California, it is perfectly legal to spank your children (within reason of course). What some parents fail to see, is the difference between spanking, and beating. It's not good to "spank" in anger because it can lead to beating. There is also that fine line of how old is too old to spank? Many factors involved...but to answer your question....It isn't illegal to spank your own children!!! :D

we are too soft on kids...they have not changed in 5000 years, but we have allowed them to get away with more...so in that way, yes, kids have changed...there is nothing wrong with a spanking especially a 2 year old who plays with a stereo--we should slap their hand and say NO...so many parents act like their kids are 25 yrs old...."now, Billy, why would u want to hurt mommy's $4000 stereo??" sure like the kid understands that....sheesh...
