Bark is a little more complex and made up of a variety of cells.

Bark is the outermost layer of stems and roots of woody plants such as trees. It overlays the wood and consists of three layers, the cork, the phloem, and the vascular cambium.

Cork and cork cambium (cork producing cell layer) are external
Cortex - this is the primary tissue of the plant stem
Phloem & Xylem are the inner most part and are concerned with carrying fluid and nutrients up and down the plant
