Soldiers and all service members are taught to work as a team and follow orders immediately without a lot of questions because in a battlefield situation this questioning could well cost lives and your expected to do as your told for this reason . So it's more of a needed training measure than it would be considered brain washing . Fighting is what they are trained to do and what is expected of them to do without question when called upon to do so , they are not afforded the opportunity to stop and play politics as you and I may be able to do and question what is going on . If the current Generals were aware that the information that weapons of mass destruction in Iraq were false they could have refused the order to deploy as an unlawful order , in which situation they would likely be replaced as some have been . But in the case of Iraq, the generals did know we provided Iraq with the ability to produce chemical weapons of mass destruction and the weapons themselves during the Iran/ Iraq war that is why we expected to find them . They used them previously on the Kurds in northern Iraq. I believe our soldiers are heroes regardless of what I think of the commander in chief who I feel used false information and scare tactics to further his personal agenda at the expense of our troops and the American people. He had to silence Saddam to save the Bush family name basically and to pay favors to the industrial complex which supported his run for the presidency .

First - Soldiers do not get brainwashed into going to war. They signed up for exactly this kind of thing. When you join the army, you know that if and when Uncle Sam asks, you have to go to war. So you're okay there. You're on the ball.

Second - it's Iraqi.

Third - Iraqis never bombed us. Terrorists did.

God bless every American soldier who ever fought for this country.... before, now, and in the future.

You don't make sense. It was Bin Laden and the saudis who piloted the planes on 9/11 who hit the towers. The Iraqis never had any bombs and certainly no means to get them over here even if the Bush lies about wmds turned out to be true. I think initially the men signed up to defend this country and to go into afghanistan where the al qaida training camps were. Now they are being redeployed over and over again because no one is signing up any more.

No, They were fighting to free the Iraqi people from a dictator, done, now they are fighting to secure that freedom from the radical fundamentalists. Noone in the U.S. military is forced to join, it's an all volunteer force. The majority of US troops are proud of their service to their country and would like to finish the job they started, not cut and run and have to go back in another five years.

i think that they are doing it because thats what they are paid to do. thats what they are trained to do. i do feel for those iraqi people but the majority of the smart iraqis have already left the country. the military from several nations have been there for 4 years and for what? it hasnt done a bit of good really. i say bring our young men home.

No, they have been trained to do this and I think each and every soldier that is there now, or has been there since 9-11 are dedicated to our country and are willing to do anything to keep us safe.

They are there for a great reason, and it's something we all should be proud of them for because they lay their life on the line for our freedom... and if anybody says that they have been brainwashed, they're pretty mistaken.

This is a story of a conversation my brother in Iraq had with a marine:
Yesterday, when I went to the Defac for lunch, I happened to sit down by a young Marine, a sergeant, and as we were eating, we started a conversation. Nothing really unusual about that, it happens every day. This conversation was somewhat different, he told me he had been in for 8 years, and this was his forth tour to Iraq. I said that that was a lot of time, and he told me that after the first time, he has kept requesting transfers to other units that were due to rotate in, because he wants to see the job done. He was somewhat angry at all of the political crap going on back there about "redeployment" out of Iraq. His father was a Viet Nam Vet, and he has heard all of the stories of the mess that was made after we pulled out of there before we finished the job. That is not a legacy that he want's to see in his own life. His father knew that we had won in nam, but the impression of the American people is that we lost, and he also knows that we are winning here, and a pullout would make it into a loss. He has lost several friends here, and don't want to see it all end with thier lives being wasted, not spent on a good cause. Please continue to pray for this young man, and all of his friends, that they may make a difference. Also continue to exert political pressure on those we elected to allow these men finish thier mission. The biggest asset that you can apply to help the troops is your vote, use it wisely.

The story is just as my brother wrote it. I didn't even correct spelling errors. He is currently on his 3rd tour as a civilian to try to make things as easy for the military as possible and was a marine himself several years ago.

No it wasn't the Iraqi people or the Afganistan people like the lady above said- it was actually jihad talibany groups that did the attack- this is a war on terror and the peoplw who perform it- not a specific country- and yes I surpport the toops. Go read about.

The Iraqis didn't even do 9/11 ! The Afghanistan people did.

Why are you saying all the Iraqis deserve to be bombed because a few of them are terrorists? Do we kill all the Germans because they used to be a Nazi country?

How much do you know about the Iraqi people? You can't even spell their name.

And BTW, some soldiers don't even have a choice. The government forces them to, because in order to be a citizen, you have to sign something that says you will fight if asked.

Edit: And exactly WHY are we chasing after them? O-I-L. What kind of greedy country kills human beings over oil???
