When I was a kid, I hated those stupid books, they had no plot and their rhymes were stupid and they still made me read them and everyone laughed at the stupid rhymes. Why do kids still fall for this sorry excuse for entertainment?

Then I guess I was the only little kid who hated them? I mean, I thought Spot was 10 times more entertaining!

I always thought I was the only one who thought that way about Dr. Seuss. I hated him when I was growing up, too. I mean, green eggs and ham? How silly was that whole book?! I was pretty intelligent as a little kid, and things that don't exist like green eggs irritated me. Glad to hear I'm not the only one out there who feels that way.

As for why kids like it, I think the Suess books have been made a family tradition almost in some households. In order to learn to read, a child must be familiar with the Dr. Suess books. My parents didn't force me to read those books, and I really didn't miss out on anything by not reading them.

Because for little kids they ARE funny, plus the rhymes teach about opposites, words which sound alike, places etc. Green eggs and ham has been a godsend with my little nephew who would only eat waffles for about 4 months until he learned that sam-i-ams friend liked new foods after he tried them. Awww I can't believe you don't like the Dr. (are you a grinch??)

For green eggs and ham was classic it is true
Books for children maybe not so much for you
A laugh from something silly found before their eyes
To some meant more than a simple lull a bye
So in your quest for this answer you desire
Maybe the Grinch stole your youth's fire

Well I guess when most people are kids they think and like things differently than they do 5 or 10 years later. I guess those books are easy to read andsince alot of kids do like it they think they should like it too.

Even when I was a kid, I thought they were silly. "Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?" LOL! But they were more interesting than "Dick, Jane, and Sally."
