In this market there are lots people who can actually help you- look for owner financing.
You may be able to assume a current owner's loan, or they maybe willing to carry it for you. Find an undervalued property, and you should have an easy time finding the money for it.
There are lots of people who can basically give you the money to buy a house!

Join a credit union in your area, they are sometimes willing to work with people in a lot of different credit situations.
