Here in Florida rain is inevitable. We all must ride in it at some point.
The reality about rain gear is this. If you wait until it rains to put it on, you are usually wet by the time you get to the next overpass. If you put it on too soon, you sweat like a bit#% before the rain cools you off, and you are wet anyway.
I don't use rain gear for that reason.
But if you must, Gortex is probably your best bet.
My advice, buy leather, it will keep you dry for the most part, and is more versatile than rain gear. If you get wet, you'll dry off, eventually.

I have tried many different sets of rain gear, and what it boils down to is my leathers are the best rain gear I have ever had and the only rain gear I wear now. If you keep them well oiled and in good repair not only do you not need to pack something else to take up valuable room in your bags but you also have road protection.

I get by with a suit made by Stearns. Not expensive, in the sporting goods section of the local department store. ($25.00) A size Large fits over my leathers. They come with reflective piping (for you visibility nuts). They overlap well, the collar comes up to the helmet, the elastic and velcro in the cuff make it easy to adjust over your cuff / glove.

I have had the same suit for at least 3 years. It may only be vinyl, but it works well. I have ridden for hours in heavy downpours and the only thing that was wet when I got there was my face. One drawback, they are not heat resistant (of course, it's plastic!).

after many years riding motorcycles in all types of weather i would sugest you go to your nearest k mart canadian tyre or where ever you are in the world and just buy an over size raincoat and pants see if you can find a jacket with elastic round the waist tuck the sleaves into your gloves but dont tuck the pants into your boots or your feet will get wet keep some electrical tape under your seat and put them outside your boots as for the guy who asks why ride in the wet why do you even ride you goose!

Frogg Toggs is where its at. They are light weight and they breath so you don't sweat in them. I found the best price on them at Edwin Witt golfer supply. Black ones are being sold at rallies, now, for Harley guys. :-)
